Slater Creek Christmas

First things first. As soon as we got home from a wonderful time at John and Paulette's, we set out cookies and milk for the Big Guy.

First thing you need for a kickin rock group is a killer lead singer. It helps if she is hot also.

Video games. The scourge of kids now days. Back when I was young.....

It's tough being a Cowboy fan in a family of Colt fans.

#1 Dad! Yes, I made it. I would like to thank all the people that got me to this ranking. I also got a video MP3 player. Currently listening to the Goodbye Girl by David Gates. Classic 70's music.

Riley loves the Cleaning trolley that Santa brought her. She is vacuuming up cat hair. Lou is saying "You missed a spot".

Usually grumpy, but yet a Colts blanket brings out the biggest smiles.

Ice, Ice, Ice

This is what we found when we got home from Jessi and Danny's wedding. The ice is hanging from the red berries on our hackberry tree. The birds, especially the cardinals, love these berries. Hope they don't get to hungry.

This the Hackberry tree from a distance. It really is beautiful.

This is a white pine that we planted. Just a couple days ago it stood so proud. Now it is bent over and frozen to the ground. Brrrrr!

Danny and Jessi Shaver

Well, today was the day. The judge was great and couldn't have been any better. Very personable. Jessi looked lovely and Danny did great.

Deb made a new friend. This is Danny's sisters daughter named Addie.

The girls looked so cute and were very good.

Danny's mom, Joyce, was so thoughtful and had a cake at the restaurant.

Luke Chapter Two

It is so cool how God makes everything work. It was prophesied in the Old Testament that the Messiah would come from the town of Bethlehem. Jesus would not have been born there unless the Romans had not ordered the census. The prophet Micah foretold of this 750 years before Jesus was born.

"But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times. "

Matt was cooking chili. Brandon, Jordan, and I were chillin out. John was cleaning and complaining. Thanks for letting me hunt there. I got a nice doe today. Happy Birthday brother. Yer the one.

snowball fight

We had a great snow Sunday morning. After making a 6 foot snowman we built snow forts and than had a snowball fight. What fun. It only amounted to around two inches but it was so wet it rolled right up. We received more last night but it was mostly ice.

A customer of mine has a mom who owns a sign shop. We have wanted to do this ever since we bought our land.

Hazel Dell was the name of the one room school house that was on this land when we bought it. Deb's dad and Jessi and Jenna's great grandpa went to school there.

Deb had the most wonderful grandma named Gramma Lori. Her real name was Lora Belle (Williams)Allen. She was her dad's mom. She used to own this timber that we now live on. Deb has the greatest memories of walking this timber with Gramma Lori and picking up walnuts, hickory nuts, and beautiful Sweet Williams. Those are Deb's favorite wildflowers.

As fondly as we talk about mom, Deb talks about Gramma Lori. The street sign was one way of honoring her. The other is how much we appreciate the outdoors.

God has blessed us so much in family. I know that everyone agrees that while the Bozarth family is awesome, we have some remarkable people in our extended family as well. Would love to read about some stories about remarkable family members from the outlaws. As in older days, family stories passed down form our rich heritage.

Thanksgiving

Besides my beautiful wife who I can't live without, these are the best reasons why I am thankful this year. I love all you kids and can't tell you how proud I am of each and every one of you. Thank you Lord for my family.

Deer Camp

What happens at deer camp is supposed to stay at deer camp but......... Nice finger Jordan!

Your momma would not be proud. We had a great time and Brandon and I had a blast. Thanks alot guys.

Farm fun

Well, another harvest is over at Debs parents. Francis had a great crop of soybeans and corn on his small farm. Deb helped haul corn in again. She loves to drive the big Ford tractor and help her dad. Harvest time is a wonderful time to remember to thank the Lord for His provision.
Harvest time is also a time for snakes. I caught this 3 foot bull snake in our front yard. Deb ran over it with the lawnmower and didn't even hurt it. We released it a few minutes after this picture was taken. It's no wonder Riley likes this kind of stuff. That's her hand touching it. Better to get use to them now than be petrified as an adult.

For those of you that watch this show. I dislike Heba, Vicky, and Brady. They give fat people a bad name. We are supposed to be jolly. They are evil. The show this year is in no way inspirational. It is all about screwing the next person. Unless your Heba, Vicky, or Brady. Heba is Swahili for evil witch.

new tradition

As you can see by the date on the picture, we now carve pumpkins after Halloween. No particular reason. It was warm out. They were cheap. We hadn't carved any yet. Deb wanted roasted pumpkin seeds.

What can i say.......

Well the bowling results were not what I was ready for. I use to bowl a fair bit. I really thought I could beat all my family members. I thought Deb might give me a run for my money, but it was actually one of my daughters who beat me by the score of 221-196. No, not Jessi. She's in Kansas City. No, Jenna is still away at college. No, Emma is busy with basketball.

That's right. Riley Jo kicked her daddys butt. She is really good. I think I will challenge her to a speling conntest.

Matt and Beth's Party

Riley, Brandon, and I had a blast last night. Deb was at a scrapbooking retreat at La Moine Christian Camp for the weekend, so she missed out on the fun and the food. Beth did a wonderful job with games and activities for the kids. She is so prepared. Also everyone brought non-perishable food for the needy. What a great idea. I hope they do this again next year. The weather was perfect and everyone seemed to have a good time. Aunt Sarah's taco dip was delicious. Thanks Beth for the pics. I love this one. The pinata was a great idea. It looks a lot like Joe. Once again, I don't need friends, I have family.

Joe, Jay and I had a great time remembering all the fun we had growing up. We got to talking about some of the games we played. Some of my favorites was Battling Tops, Tip-It, Don't Break the Ice, Risk, and Monopoly. The important thing was playing with family. Kelly wrote on her blog about her two oldest boys choosing family over scouting. I am not surprised.

The latest at Slater Creek Farm

Well things are beautiful at Slater Creek Farm. As you can tell, we love mums. We are probably going to start selling them next summer. They do so well here. We planted this one two years ago.

These are some new ones we just planted. The big one in the front are from friends of ours in honor of Tucker.

It is fun to have help in the garden. If she is not to busy catching worms or caterpillars.
