Brothers....sort of

Since this story is about Joe, I thought Corey could fill in for Jimmy for this picture.
Joe, no doubt, was the easiest going brother in the world. I think lately he has gotten a little surlier. I blame Jane and the whole lawn chair incident. I can never remember a time Joe ever telling me to go home when I was trying to hang around with him and his friends. I think that is why I liked Dunk so much as well. I spent a lot of time with Dunk. He would let me try to be cool at Rollo's garage. He would let me throw snowballs at cars driving on 18th street. He made leaf trails for us. I think he even liked when we hung around Burger Chef which was the coolest place in the world.
The only time that he ever got short with me was when I wanted to come into his bedroom to see a new strobe light that changed with the beat of the music. It took him about five minutes to unlock the door. I think his stupid girlfriend Trudy must have tried to stop him. That is why it took so long. I never liked her. She tried to take take Joey away from us. Then I discovered girls for myself and Joe took a backseat as well.
I think he still wanted to hang with me but......well you know.

Good Times

What a great weekend we had. Cousins having fun together. Brings back so many good memories with the Trines and the Kuhlmans. Haley got to take home a pumpkin from our pumpkin patch.

Nothing like a snugglefest on the sofa sleeper.
We just had so much fun this weekend. Good food, wicked game of Twister, and a lot of fun at a Bozarth Fest. I love my family!

Nurse wannabe...I don't think so

This is Jane on her first day at Blessing Hospital. I was so proud of her. I took her and mom to Boags for breakfast, I paid, and then we drove her to work. As the picture shows, she was little overwhelmed on her first day. She later told me that, just me being there helped her to calm down and focus on her job. Whether I helped out or not, I don't know, I was just glad to help out one of the kids. After that I went out and put in a good word for Joe at the post office. It's what I do.

Born to.........

Deb was born to cook. Using all ingredients from our garden except lemon juice, She canned her homemade salsa this weekend. We have had a great crop of onions, jalapenos, bell peppers, and tomatoes this year. We love to cook with our homegrown vegetables. Not only no chance of e coli, but such a wonderful feeling of accomplishment. I think it is neat that so many Bozarth's enjoy vegetable gardening. She also canned and froze so much this year so that we can enjoy it all year. Yep, Deb was born to cook.

I on the other hand was born to nap. It is in my blood just the same as cooking is in Debs. Just like her, I made a choice to be good at something. It is a lot of work, but dagnabbit, I'm going to do this.

brothers

It's time for another addition of........The Bozarth Brothers Mishaps..umm I mean Adventures.

John was quite a bit older than me. I don't have a lot of memories of him while I was young. Only his memories that I have heard a million times make it seems like I remember them. Clinkers, Sugar Smacks, Cindy Bruening, and Braunschweiger and Thueringer. Being the only other brother that likes to hunt, I was kind of drawn to him in my early teens.

It was a beautiful Fall day in the Midwest. I spent the night at Johns and we were going hunting in the morning. John was going to use his bow for deer, and I was going to use a shotgun for rabbit. This was on Kenny Barry's land near Liberty. After a couple of hours and not seeing a rabbit, I notice John walking towards me in a hurry. I thought he had to take a poop and needed "wipies". He does that a lot in the woods. No, he hit a deer and needed help tracking it. Well, we looked for 2 hours and didn't find the deer. John was very disappointed. That would soon disappear. As we came up to a single strand of barbed wire fence, John says :"Let me show you how to cross these". I held his bow and my shotgun as he runs towards the fence. He jumps, does this scissor kick thing, and clears the fence by two feet. As he lands, he rolls his ankle in a hole and goes down faster than me at an Old Country Buffet.

The ankle should never be that color of purple, orange, black, and blue. It was the ugliest thing that I have seen. This coming from an expert in sprained ankles. Well, as I held a bow and shotgun in one arm, and had the other arm around my brother, I thought......If i left him here, no one would notice. NO I DIDN'T. I thought....I go hunting and all I get to bring back to the truck is a 185 LB stupid piece of......NO I DIDN'T.

I thought....Sometimes you have to back your brothers play. "Easy John, I got ya".

Jimmy

Don't know what the occasion is but, Jimmy is putting on his groove thing. I am sure Grandma was just excited to be dancing with someone smaller than her. Other than Jim, her only options were Uncle Herb and Joe. Ouch Babe! I am guessing the picture was approximately taken in the late 60"s. Maybe somebodies wedding or Cousin Hymie's Bar Mitzvah.

We all know that revenge is best served cold. I like it with a little mayo and swiss cheese. Through the years, high
and low, Jimmy is my choice for the Solid Gold Dancer.

Prostate, prostrate, Mr. Tate

Well, thanks to Kelly and her reminder, I had my Prostate examined and blood work done. Dr. Kill said my prostate was very small and no cause for alarm. Actually he said "vewy smaw and no cause faw arawm". I said "Excuse me". He repeated it and then I understood. Also a very important tip guys. Pull your pants back up before you hug the doctor. I think I made him blush. Me, it didn't bother so much.

Happy Birthday Jess!

We had decided to go out of town for the weekend. Our first child seemed in no hurry to get here. We blamed it on the homemade ice cream. Her moms water broke while she sat on the toilet. I immediately began to panic. In a very small Mazda pickup, we raced 80 miles an hour from near Bowen, Illinois. This was before the interstate. I was convinced that if I had to deliver our boy, that's what the doctor promised, I was going to stop in Ursa and break in the doctors office. That is when Ursa had a doctors office. A few hours later our boy became the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. Little did I know that I would see three more beautiful girls.
Happy Birthday Jess! I am so proud of you. I am so glad you are so happy. Love you.

brothers

I told someone at work the other day...."I don't have friends, I have my brothers. So I decided to start telling true stories about our mishaps..I mean adventures.

I call this one "The day Jay and Jeff was going to kick somebodies butt for Jimmy".

Jimmy was about 12 years old and was hanging around some older kids in the 15th and Elm area. One day he came home crying because they had pushed him and knocked him around a little. When he came home crying to mom, Jay and I decided that we were going to take matters into our own hands. We started walking towards 15th and Elm. The longer we walked, the madder we got. You don't mess with our brother. Then a friend of Jays drives by in a Kroners Florist delivery van. Jay fills him in on it and he offers to drive us up to the house while we lay down in the van. Well many of you know that if I lay flat in a moving vehicle, I start to get dizzy. Many of you also know that the closer I get to danger, the dizzier I get. I think it is genetic. Well as our friend drives through the neighborhood, he spots the thugs. We jump out of the van and start walking towards them very menacingly. We notice that they have a lot more people than we do. Our driver didn't leave the van. So their we are, Jay who doesn't inspire fear in anyone and me who thinks he is going to throw up. Well we yelled at them pretty good and then jumped back in the van and drove away. I think Jay called them a bad name. I am sure we told Jimmy a better story than what really happened. After all....You got to back your brothers play.

On the way to Shawshank

I knew this gang. Fatty, Chance, Psycho, and Red. They would pull any kind of job. They were stone dead killers. They finally got busted. They were the ones who pulled the Underbrinks heist. Got away with alot of dough until Red told her mommy on them. I suppose they are on the way to Shawshank by now. Crime doesn't pay kids. Crime doesn't pay.

Did I ever tell you.......

Uncle Jeff: Did I ever tell you that I was at the hospital when you were born?
Ellie: My dad warned me about you.

Tucker

Sad news from West Point. We had to put Tucker down today. Something has been going on for a few months. He was starting to be very destructive and acting crazy. He was the picture of health except he wouldn't sleep and constantly prowled and couldn't rest. He was constantly whimpering at night.
He was the greatest dog I have ever known. He loved to go on truck rides and to visit with his buddies across the road. I have the greatest memory of him sleeping in the same bed with John at a Memorial Day Campout one year. Riley and Brandon are taking it very hard as well as Deb and I.
We went to adopt another dog in May of 2003 in Washington Iowa at a pound but it ended up Tucker adopted us. We couldn't resist the black mutt who just kept leaning against Deb. We forgot the other dog instantly and took Tucker home. His foster mom said Tucker deserved to live at the Taj Mahal; and we believe this to be true as well! Tucker instantly became Riley's favorite toy. She would climb and sit on him constantly. He also loved when Josh came over because he would scratch Tucker's head for hours. But Tucker was the happiest when he was under the table while his family ate supper. He just always wanted to be close to his family.
I will always remember that he hardly ever barked, was scared of thunderstorms, and listened to his family very well. We are going to miss him.

First Day of School, big brother to cool

I love this picture. Brandon did not want any pictures this year. As you can see, Deb won the arguement. Brandon did have to put on his tough guy face while putting a protective arm around his little sis.

Waiting on the bus. "Please go back in the house mom before the bus comes."

The moment arrives and Deb gets the picture. The Pulitzer prize in photography will be awarded soon.

St. Francis

Hard to believe in the 7th grade I jumped out of the second story windows. Well, maybe I didn't but I always wanted to. I did steal a litre bottle of soda from the assembly room and hid it in a big bush outside that door with a friend of mine. Little did I know that Father Dennis was outside of Church and witnessed the whole thing. We get called in to the principle's office and he asks if we have anything to say. Nothing else. "Do you boys have anything to say?" I cracked like any fifth grader would. I cried. My friend cried. We swore we wouldn't tell on each other that we cried. Lucky we didn't get punished. He didn't even call our parents. He probably thought....What a bunch of lightweights. A year later he left the order and married my second grade teacher, Miss Geary. She was hot and I think she dug me a little. Ah.....school days!
